Dushore is an anglicized spelling of a Frenchmen’s last name….our very first resident, Aristide Du-petit Thouars. Aristide was an Azilum pioneer in 1794. He was rewarded 400 acres, which became Dushore. Prior to incorporation in 1859, Dushore was known as Jackson’s Hollow, Mosier’s Hollow and Headleyville, generally separated by the streams in town.
